The surroundings of Les Mouettes

Wenduine, the Princess of Seaside Resorts, is a borough of De Haan. One of the last, truly peaceful places at the Belgian coast.

With parking spaces for your car in the surrounding streets, bicycle rental next door and a stop for The Coast Tram directly opposite Hotel Les Mouettes, you have the entire surroundings within immediate reach.

Situated between Ostend and the Venice of the north, Bruges, Hotel Les Mouettes offers a wide range of touristic, recreational and sporting opportunities for young and old, large and small. We gladly list them for you below.

Wielingenbad

Right next door of Hotel Les Mouettes are the swimming pool Wielingen and the Wielingen centre. The well-kept swimming pool has a surface of 25 by 10 metres and the paddling pool is 10 by 8 metres in size.

Sunparks De Haan aan Zee

If you want something more than just swimming a few laps or splashing around, you can go to the nearby Sunparks-complex where Aquafun, Kids World, several cafes and restaurants, as well as sauna and wellness ensure a refreshing day for the entire family.

Spioenkop

One of the most famous and most photographed places in Wenduine undoubtedly is the Spioenkop with the white pavilion and red roof. No less than 31 metres high it is the second highest dune at the Belgian coast. The Spioenkop can be reached through different paths or stairs incorporated in the dunes and is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

Surfclub Surfing Elephant

Located at the beach of Wenduine, at the Manitobahelling East, surf club Surfing Elephant is the ‘place to be’ during the summer months for a cosy stay with a snack and a drink with your feet in the sand, for surfing and kiting lessons, for playing on the beach and a lot more.

The Uitkerkse polder / The Fonteintjes

More than 1,400 hectares in size, this polder landscape is absolutely recommended to those who want to understand the typical coastal polders. Together with a narrow belt of dunes with three lakes that are filled by a freshwater bubble underneath the dunes and which listens to the appropriate name ‘The Fonteintjes’ (The Fountains), this area should definitely not be missed on your list of excursions to make!

Duinbossen

One of those green oases in and around Wenduine was given the name ‘Duinbossen’.  This strip of forest from Vosseslag to Wenduine contains the nature reserves ‘Zandpanne’ and ‘Kijkuit’ and is provided with indicated hiking and bridle paths as well as several passageways to the beach.

Estate La Potinière

The beating heart of the typical Belle Epoque-style which makes De Haan so unique is the child-friendly La Potinière. The tavern, the three tennis courts, the two playgrounds, the petanque court, the mini-golf, the paths and the benches in the park maintained their historical view.

Sea Life Blankenberge

In Sea Life Blankenberge you take a fascinating journey through the mysterious underwater world. More than 50 aquariums show the miraculous underwater life from the Amazon River until the North Sea, and many other rivers, seas and oceans. The best-known part perhaps is the seal rehabilitation centre where stranded seal pups are picked up and cared for.

Serpentarium Blankenberge

The Serpentarium immerses you into a jungle full of spiders, lizards and frogs. Are you ready to come face-to-face with the dangerous venomous snake?  Ready to see the most interesting inhabitants in their exotic environment?

Bruges

The historical centre of the Venice in the north is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as medieval town. The city therefore justifiably is a world-famous tourist attraction. In the culinary, culturally and recreational field Bruges offers an unprecedented range of activities and attractions.  Add to this the well-known shopping streets and the many parks and domains that are bathing in green and you will not know what to do first.
